AFSA Virginia holds events throughout the year to benefit the ODU FireFighters Burn Foundation and The Central Virginia Burn Camp.

O’TOOLES’S RESTAURANT & PUB
Jim O’Toole, the son of Irish parents who immigrated to the United States in 1920, realized a lifelong dream when he opened O’Toole’s Restaurant and Pub in 1966. When Jim passed away in 1998, his third eldest son, John, took the reins and led the neighborhood institution into the new millennium. Through the years, John has spearheaded several updates: he added a sports bar, a reception room, and a VIP room, all while maintaining his father’s original vision. That extra space comes in handy, especially on St. Patrick’s Day, when the pub celebrates with kilt-wearing bagpipe musicians.
OLD DOMINION FF BURN FOUNDATION
The Foundation’s main efforts surround raising funds for programs that support burn survivors and prevent burns. This fundraising helps to meet the mission of providing burn prevention education and assisting burn victims through collaboration with area fire departments, healthcare institutions, and other community partners with interests in reducing burn injuries. Through these partnerships, the following are some of the Foundation’s accomplishments:
-Support for the Evans-Haynes Burn Center
-Purchase of a new burn shower
-Annual funding for burn physician fellowship
-Funding for staff training and ABA Conference attendance
-Burn Survivor Sunday sponsor
-Funding for remodeling of a waiting room, children’s toy room, and conference room
